Boston and Cambridge in the state of Massachusetts

Boston is the capital of Massachusetts and the heart of New England, a region in the eastern United States that includes six states: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Boston is a unique city with a rich history and stunning architecture. Its landscape combines historic churches and cathedrals, historic squares, and red brick buildings, some of the oldest in America, with modern skyscrapers reflecting the futuristic design of the 21st century.

One of the must-visit places is Harvard University, located in Harvard Square in Cambridge, a suburb of Boston.

This university is not just one building but a complex with many buildings where classes are held, students live, sports events take place, and much more.

Most of Harvard's buildings are situated in Harvard Square and its surroundings. Taking a stroll through Harvard Yard, visiting the Harvard University Library (the largest academic library in the USA), and rubbing the foot of the John Harvard statue (legend has it that it brings luck in getting into the university) all allow you to experience the atmosphere of the intellectual center of the world.

Among other attractions in Boston, the Boston Public Library, the Prudential skyscraper and shopping center, Boston Common Park, and Fenway Park stadium stand out.

It is recommended to take an unusual tour of Boston — the Boston Duck Tour: on a large boat with wheels, you can not only tour the city but also cruise past its most picturesque spots!

Towns of Ipswich and Rockport, Massachusetts

Ipswich and Rockport are cozy towns in Massachusetts, located not far from Boston. They possess their own unique charm typical of small coastal communities. Here you will find narrow streets with low houses, numerous yachts at docks, and restaurants serving freshly caught lobster that you can enjoy with a pint of blueberry beer brewed right in Ipswich, while admiring the breathtaking sunset over the ocean.

In Ipswich, you will find the mansion of business magnate Crane, surrounded by a green alley leading straight to the ocean. In Rockport, you can set sail on a "pirate" ship and enjoy the songs of sailors, immersing yourself in an atmosphere of adventures and maritime stories.

Ah, New York... So many songs have been sung about it, so many movies made, so many books written... It truly is the heart of the world! There's so much to see and do here! Just Times Square alone is worth a visit: huge billboards, unique buildings and stores, skyscrapers, an endless stream of people... New Yorkers always seem to be in a rush!

You must visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA - Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Empire State Building, take a ferry ride to Liberty Island and admire the famous Statue of Liberty (and even go inside!), take the subway to the popular Brighton Beach among Russian-speaking residents and observe how former compatriots live here...

For example, we stumbled upon a film crew working on a scene with... Kate Winslet! Central Park hosts theatrical performances, and there's also a zoo here.

San Antonio, Texas (San Antonio, TX)

My visit to San Antonio was timed to coincide with celebrating my birthday, and I was amazed by this city! America is a land of contrasts, where each state represents a unique micro-culture with its own features, traditions, and customs. Moving from New England, I noticed huge differences between these regions, especially in Texas!

Here, more than half of the population has Hispanic origin, while representatives of African American and other dark-skinned ethnic groups are much fewer.

The locals are very friendly and always ready to chat, share interesting facts about their city, and its history related to Spanish colonizers and the struggle for independence. Cowboy hats and Mexican cuisine are also prevalent in Texas.

The unique "Tex-Mex" cuisine, a blend of Texas and Mexican culinary traditions, originated here. So don't be surprised if you're offered to try spicy chili, salsa, chips, guacamole, burritos, enchiladas, or quesadillas, as well as taste a margarita with excellent Mexican tequila!

Among the main attractions of this region of the USA are:

  • River Walk (San Antonio Riverwalk) — a narrow river lined with numerous restaurants and cafes along the waterfront. Water taxis also operate here, and in the evening, you can hop on a service boat and enjoy dinner while cruising along the river.
  • Tower of the Americas — a tall building with a rotating restaurant at the top (168 meters from the ground!).
  • The Alamo — a historic fortress and a symbol of San Antonio.
  • Spanish Catholic missions — four ancient fortresses built for the propagation of Christianity.
  • San Antonio Zoo, where I accidentally tried fried pickles, a popular Texas dish (which, to my surprise, I didn't like!).

San Antonio offers a blend of history, culture, delicious cuisine, and friendly locals, making it a memorable destination for travelers.

San Diego, California (San Diego, CA)

San Diego, California

California is undoubtedly one of those states that is worth visiting! And not just San Diego, but also Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento...

Among the numerous attractions in the USA is San Diego — the second most populous city in California. It stood out to me primarily because of its hospitable residents, endless beaches, the popularity of surfing, and the huge zoo!

San Diego Zoo is a real marvel: one of the largest zoos in the world! It would take at least an hour to walk from one end to the other! That's why the zoo has buses running through it, and there is also the option to take a sky tram ride over the zoo.

Special attention is deserved by the pandas — the true stars of the zoo! San Diego Zoo is one of the few places in the world where you can see these amazing animals. Koalas, a vast polar bear exhibit, a rhinoceros, and an African wildlife section also left a lasting impression. At the entrance of the zoo, you'll encounter a huge elephant... made of living plants! San Diego Zoo is truly a world leader in its class and is a must-visit destination!
